NEW!  2022-23 School Year – 1:1 Chromebooks for students rollout!

We are excited to announce the rollout of 1:1 Chromebook devices to our students.  This project is a part of the overall technology plan in the recent bond that was passed by our communities.  For more information on all of the Technology projects we are working on, see our Technology Bond Roadmap on the districts Technology webpage.

Beginning with the 2022-23 school year, the East China School District will provide Chromebooks so every student will have access to a computing device.

  • Secondary 6-12 grade students will be assigned a Chromebook, Case, and Power supply that they will keep, take to class, and be able to take home (internet access is required to use a Chromebook).
  • Elementary classrooms will receive a storage cart with enough Chromebooks for each student to use in class. These Chromebooks will stay in school.

Why 1:1?

1:1 devices ensure that all students have access to curriculum and supporting resources. This is important as more and more curriculum resources are digital.

1:1 devices ensure that all students have equitable access to productivity tools. Many of these tools are now available through Google and other ECSD online resources where students can access their documents/information at any time from any place with Internet access.

1:1 technology allows students to experience critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication with their teachers and peers both locally and globally.

1:1 gives teachers the ability to differentiate more effectively and proactively based on student need.

1:1 devices provide equitable access to technology for all students, eliminating the digital divide.

1:1 devices give teachers the ability to measure what matters most and have timely actionable results. Teachers will be able to make instructional decisions in real time to meet the needs of all of their students through digital formative assessments.
